CD / Koop / Waltz For Koop / JCR (Jazzanova Compost Records)

Koop receive the cooperation of several great vocalists on this very vocal oriented disc with a strong 70's Polish Jazz sound. Yukimi Nagano sings on "Summer Sun" a lot like the Polish jazz artist Eva Bem.

12" / Nettle / Bin Scrape Laden / Soot

Though this is 'difficult music' it is worth the effort. If you've got an open mind and want something new (guaranteed) I'd say give this a shot.

3"CD / various / Archival Series Volume One / The New England Electric Music Company
Artists: Tom Dissevelt/Gershon Kingsley/Percy Grainger/Pierre Boulez/Joan LaBarbara

Volume One of the archival series of 3" cds is by far the most varied of the three Archive series that I have heard so far. There are 4 much shorter tracks - but also there is the most tension conveyed.

link to a full review of Interpol

CD5 / Interpol / 5 Song EP

They're a 4 peice band that sound heavily influenced by the likes of Joy Division and possibly, a bit by My Dad is Dead. Their songs and some of the guitarwork contain similarities to some of the more rocked up Bedhead songs but replacing the world-weary deadpan-ness with more melody and emotion.

CD / various / In The Beginning There Was Rhythm / Soul Jazz Records

There is something so universally affirming in the spirit of these songs that so many of us consider sacred that I think gets overlooked because these bands form the backbone of our own musical identity. Rather than stand and fight, like many of their punk forefathers, the artists on In The Beginning choose rhythm as their rifle.
