is Chris Jeffs from England. On this 12" he has created
3 vocal tracks (two with vocoder) that are catchy electro rockers.
The main song of the 12" "Cut The Midrange, Drop The Bass" is almost like a goof on the sound of Daft Punk's 'Discovery' record. The vocal melody sounds really familiar, though I can't place from where.
"Cut The Midrange, Drop The Bass" is fun and moves along well. It is somewhat of a novelty song, sticking in your head like chewing gum in hair.
On the flip, a respectful version of the shanty "What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor" is goofy in its vocoder electrodressing- as intended, no doubt.
The final song "With This Ring" reminds me of early Devo, with the spud-like vocals and the jerky rhythm. It is my favorite of the tracks for two reasons: It does not use the vocoder, and early Devo ruled - The sound of "With This Ring" likewise pleases me.
