CD / Andreas Dorau / 70 Minuten Musik Ungeklarter Herkunft
/ Motor /
In 1982 Andreas Dorau put out a great single on Mute Records called "Fred Vom
Jupiter" (Mute 019) under the name of Die Doraus & Die Marinas. 16 years
later he is thanked on every Bungalow release, and he works as a set designer
with Ata Tak of Der Plan. There is a new TV ad for German soft drink Bluna
(Afri Cola Company), that uses Tipsy as BGM. Afri Cola once became famous for
it's (then provocative) Pop art clips by Charles Wilp. Afri Cola also sponsored
Andreas Dorau. Check out his latest (of many) records, bought at Other Music.
His lyrics are very clever and humorous, if you can understand German (except
for the single ""Girls in Love"", sung in English)."
CD / Various / This is Stereophonic Sunshine / Sandcastle
/
Indie-Pop compilation with bands from US and all over the world. All songs
are unique to this CD, and all bands are part of the "Indie-Pop List" on the
web. If you subscribe to it, be sure to get the digest, unless you want to
go crazy trying to sort through tons of messages every day! Local band Coloring
Book (recently relocated to NYC) have a new song on it.
CDEP / VyVyan / Mood Swings E.P. / Abuse /
New EP by the UK all-girl ("not a willy in sight") band whose 7" did well this
summer at WZBC.
CD w/magazine / Various / Beware the Cat / Pretty strong import compilation at a great price. Many good songs for rock, and NCP. I like #'s 1,2,3,7,8,12,&16
7" / The Minders / Black Balloon / Little Army /
I'm sure we'll get serviced with their new CD anyday now, but I'll bet it only
has (at most) one of the three great songs offered here. Part of the Elephant
6 Recording Company group of inter related bands.
7" / Hirameka Hi-Fi / Play Hard EP / Gringo /
Follow up to the 7" that did so well at WZBC
7" / Magoo / Swiss Border Escape / Chemikal Underground
/
Magoo is the creeper band of the Chemikal Underground group of artists. They
never have really been successful, yet they put out stuff regularly, of high
quality. They almost remind me of Flaming Lips
